July 5, 2015

We sleep in this morning at our cozy China Creek Cabin. We plan a short day over to the coast and up to our friends Robert and Kristy's in Brookings Oregon. The road to the coast is a fast  3 lane with nice views. The coast road, the 'Redwood Highway' is really nice, weaving in and out of giant redwood groves and back out to the sea, pretty special. We stop in Orick for lunch, not your typical tourist town, more like something in northern Maine or Appalachia. We make it to Brookings mid afternoon and find the house with no problem. They have a great home on the water, with a nice beach and a large rock outcrop 100 yards off shore with a colony of harbor seals.
In the evening we meet Robert's neighbors Nisha and Rick, who just recently bought a lot in Loreto and are planning on building next year. We enjoy a great meal of local ling cod (Robert, Laura and Jupiter caught it), some fine wine and a bit of tequila. Tomorrow, we need to search for a rear tire for the bike.
